Our Story
We’re James and Vernestine Lomax—co-founders of The House of Lomax Publishing Company, a purpose-driven imprint birthed through prayer, divine alignment, and the written Word.

Our love story began with intercession and ended in covenant. After years of individual waiting—22 for Vernestine and 11 for James after divorce—God divinely orchestrated our union through prophetic vision, persistent prayer, and the obedience of family. Within 14 minutes of meeting, Vernestine heard, “This is your husband.” Before we ever met, James had already seen her face in prayer. That’s the kind of God we serve—a God of divine timing, destiny, and legacy.

Together, we are passionate about capturing testimonies, cultivating truth, and publishing works that edify the Body of Christ. But our assignment goes beyond books.
At The House of Lomax, we offer faith-based counseling, coaching, training and development, teaching and preaching, and publishing—all rooted in the Word and led by the Spirit. We serve individuals, churches, and communities seeking clarity, healing, boldness, and breakthrough.

As authors, spiritual leaders, and Kingdom managers, we believe in the power of story, the strength of obedience, and the anointing that flows from a surrendered pen. Through our devotionals, workshops, and mentorship, we minister to singles, couples, widows, and those walking out their “yes” with God.

Named NC Teacher of the Year (1995–1996) and recipient of the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine, she brings decades of teaching and mentoring experience, blending faith, passion, and wisdom to inspire educators everywhere. She is also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (43 years)
